My Influences Episode #2

#2. Donato Giancola

Admittedly, I wasn't even aware of Donato (or a lot of other great artists out there) until about sophomore year of college, but after seeing his painting "Prometheus" on the cover of Spectrum 13, I was immediately interested. A lot of you are probably already familiar with his work. What I love Donato's art is his use of color and description of light and form. His paintings are as technically beautiful as an old Renaissance Master's painting with extra luminosity added by his control of bright colors. His figures are conveyed with such accuracy and delicacy that they almost feel more real than I do. To check out more of his work, visit his gallery at And you should check out more of his work!
